Mr. M.A.Latif Awan is serving Punjab Law College, Rawalpindi from the year 1996 in capacities such as Faculty Member, Vice Principal and now as Principal. He was honored with the title of "Best Teacher of the year 2006", An old Law Graduate of the Punjab University, he has attended courses, colloquiums, seminars and workshops in the Balliol College, (the oldest College of Oxford University, which College was founded in 1262 AD), in the University of Texas at Arlington (USA), University of California and Columbia University, New York
As Registrar, Supreme Court of Pakistan, for sixteen long years, he has the unique distinction of having worked for thirteen great Chief Justices of Pakistan and many renowned Judges of the apex Court of the country. His devotion to duty and expertise in case-management were consistently appreciated. As a part of his in-service training and functions, Mr. Awan visited USA, Europe, Asia, Western Pacific, China and Africa. He worked in Kuwait for about four years as Legal Adviser to a British Company. During his foreign visits, he had the opportunity of studying different .Judicial Systems, Legal education and working of Bar Associations. During a long extensive visit in 1992 of USA, England and Africa, he studied the working of lower courts, appellate Courts and the Supreme Court of America and Royal Court of Justice for England and Wales. He attended the annual meeting of the American Bar Association in August 1992 in San Francisco (USA) as a 'distinguished international guest'. He also visited the headquarters of the American Bar Association in Chicago and the Dallas Bar Association.
Mr. Awan had the privilege of attending several national and international conferences of Chief Justices, Appellate Court Judges and the Registrars of superior Courts. He contributed papers on "Judicial system of Pakistan"."Case flow management in trial and appellate Courts", "Records, statistics and Information, Management of Courts" "Administrative aspects of Court Management" "Criminal Justice systems at district level" etc.
In 1984, Mr.Awan was elected a member of three-Member Committee of the Court Administrators Conference of LAWASIA region; the other two Members were from Australia and the Philippines.
A Committee consisting of the then Chief Justices of Australia, Canada and the Circuit Appellate Court of America rated Mr.Latif Awan as the best Registrar of the Superior Courts of the South East Asia and the Western Pacific in the Conference of Chief Registrars and Court Administrators held in Mallaca (Malaysia) in 1987.
Mr. Awan also served the Federal Judicial Academy, Islambad as its Director General during 1997-98 and conducted several pre-service courses for newly recruited Additional District & Sessions Judges and civil judges/judicial magistrates. In fact he was associated with the Academyright from the day of its establishment in 1988 and delivered several lectures to the trainee judges.
